The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is a combination of sociological poststructuralism, critical sociology, and critical pedagogy, within which distance learning practices are considered as structurally related to similar practices in other fields - the field of mass culture, the field of economics, the field of politics, etc. Therefore, the practice of distance learning is included in the social processes characteristic of (post)modern society: individualization/atomization of society, social exclusion, reification of social relations, commodification of relations between educators and students, fetishization of the learning process, etc. These and other processes carry a number of risks and a lot of possible negative consequences both for the field of education itself (loss of its autonomy, reduction of the efficiency of its social functions, “slippage” in social production, etc.) and for other social fields. These processes are considered to be associated with various forms of social inequality (class, gender, regional, information, etc.). Project goal - conceptualize the social effects and challenges of the spread of distance learning practices in higher education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale military confrontation in Ukraine.
