A correlation was identified between reduced protein C levels and the accumulation of soluble fibrin in patients with ischemic heart disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, and abdominal aortic aneurysm. A laboratory method of analysis based on monoclonal antibodies was developed and validated, enabling the quantitative measurement of protein C in blood plasma.
