Mechnikov National University popup.description1 Development of new methods for the preparation of cyclocondensation products of substituted naphthalic acid anhydrides with aliphatic and aromatic diamines containing amino groups in adjacent positions, synthesis of new compounds of this series and study of their properties. popup.description2  It is shown that new luminophores – 4,5-disubstituted 1,8-naphthoylene-1’,2’-benzimidazoles, 1,8-naphthoylene-1’,2’-acenaphthoimidazoles and 1,8-naphthoylene-1’,2’-dihydroimidazoles can be synthesized by condensation of 4,5-disubstituted naphthalic anhydrides with o-phenylenediamine, acenaphthene-4,5-diamine and ethylenediamine, respectively. It has been shown that 1,8-naphthoylene-1’,2’-benzimidazoles with electron-donating substituents in positions 4 and 5, which are effective luminophores of orange or red luminescence, can be obtained in high yields by replacing chlorine atoms in 4,5-dichloro-1,8-naphthoylene-1’,2’-benzimidazole. It has been established that 4,5-disubstituted derivatives of 1,8-naphthoylene-1’,2’-benzimidazole are more heat-stable luminophores, their melting points are 60-100 °C higher compared to the corresponding 4-monosubstituted derivatives. It was found that the absorption and luminescence maxima of 4,5-disubstituted derivatives of 1,8-naphthoylene-1’,2’-benzimidazole are bathochromically shifted by 15-30 nm, and the molar absorption index is one and a half times higher compared to the corresponding 4-monosubstituted derivatives.
