A new method for the synthesis of polyfluoroalkyl-containing pyrroles using available α,β-unsaturated polyfluoroalkyl ketones and natural α-amino acids has been developed and their chemical properties have been investigated: electrophilic reactions (halogenation and acylation) and reduction of the pyrrole ring to obtain fluoroalkyl-containing pyrrolizidines. Methods for the synthesis of functionalized derivatives of difluorocyclopentane and difluorobicyclo[3.1.0]hexane starting from 3,3-difluorocyclopentene have been investigated. An effective method for the synthesis of compounds containing the (trifluoromethyl)spiro[3.3]heptane fragment of trifluoromethyl-containing cyclobutanes has been developed. 7-(trifluoromethyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolizines and bicyclic trifluoromethyl-containing pyrroles were found to be effective synthetic antimicrobial agents with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, including against multidrug-resistant Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial pathogens.
