popup.description1
Development of methods for obtaining functional polymer systems, by introducing an ether-containing perfluorinated component and chromophore groups, with adjustable dielectric and photo-optical properties, as well as to investigate the structure, properties, and possible applications of the resulting systems.
popup.description2
The primary focus of this project was to address a pressing issue in polymer chemistry: the search for materials with low
dielectric constants and losses (first direction) and the development of polymers with properties that can be controlled by an
external stimulus, such as light (second direction). Within the first direction, the dielectric properties of a linear meta-isomeric
fluorinated poly(arylene ether) (FPAE-1) were extensively studied using broadband dielectric spectroscopy. It was demonstrated
that the investigated polymer exhibits low dielectric constants, not exceeding 2.6 across the frequency range of 10³–10⁶ Hz, even
at 160°C. For the second direction, an azo-containing polymer (Azo-FPAE-1) with azobenzene groups in the side chain was
synthesized. It was shown that this polymer undergoes trans-cis-trans photoisomerization transitions of azobenzene fragments
under UV and visible light, both in solution and in the solid state. Azo-FPAE films demonstrated photoinduced birefringence
when exposed to a "green" laser (532 nm) and the ability to record diffraction gratings with a resolution of 30 lines per
millimeter. The achieved results indicate that the obtained film-forming thermally stable polymer systems, with low dielectric
permittivity and high optical sensitivity, hold great promise as active components for modern printed circuit boards and
adaptive smart polymeric materials.
