Purpose of work: scientific substantiation of the content of education of middle-aged and older students with intellectual disabilities and development of programmatic and methodological support for its implementation in accordance with the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education and the Concept of the National Secondary School. Methods of work: Theoretical: analysis of psychological and pedagogical, methodological literature, study and generalization of pedagogical experience, comparative analysis. Empirical: methods of pedagogical and psychological diagnostics (psychological and pedagogical observation, questionnaires, interviews of students, parents and teachers of educational institutions), analysis of student work and educational and methodological documentation. Research results and their novelty: For the first time, the content of teaching middle and senior school-age students with intellectual disabilities was developed by developing model curricula for special institutions for children with intellectual disabilities, taking into account the Concept of the National School System, the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, the main achievements of special pedagogy and psychology, scientific developments in the field of foreign and domestic experience in teaching students with intellectual disabilities, the main directions of socialization and socio-labor adaptation of students of this category. The developed software and methodological support should be used on the basis of the implementation of correctional and adaptive technologies that contribute to the personal development of students as a whole. Practical significance. The results of the study can be used in the work of teachers of special institutions of general secondary education and institutions with inclusive education, IRC specialists.
