The object of research is a direct method of researching general boundary value problems for the equations of transverse oscillations of a rod. Research methods - to achieve the set goal and solve the problems of theoretical research, mathematical modeling methods, the main provisions of the theory of the equation of oscillations, the equations of mathematical physics, the basics of the theory of generalized quasi-differential equations were used. Theoretical studies were conducted using mathematical modeling and other analytical methods. Analytical methods are effectively used when solving problems. The results are in a closed form, solutions of general boundary value problems for the equation of transverse oscillations of the rod in the case of variable mechanical characteristics have been obtained.
