It has been determined that the circular economy strategy, as a component of the concepts of the green economy and sustainable development, holds significant potential for addressing urgent global challenges, such as climate change, preserving the natural environment, and achieving specific sustainable development goals. These principles became the foundation for activities aimed at forming environmental consciousness, which include: designing for the future, utilizing digital technologies, maintaining and preserving the current state, using waste as a resource, renewable resources, and uniting in teams to create shared value. Educational and professional programs in higher education for the specialty 132 Materials Science at the first and second levels of higher education have been improved. The proposed content of these programs is based on the concept of design thinking, which ensures sustainability at each stage of the product life cycle. A list of subject areas and descriptors of the updated educational and professional training programs for industrial designers has been provided. Information technologies are recognized as tools for managing the product life cycle, which contribute to learners' knowledge acquisition and ensure effective professional activity in the future. A model and specific stages for forming environmental consciousness among learners have been developed. The methodological approach is based on design thinking principles and emphasizes the effectiveness of using methods, tools, and knowledge necessary to reduce the environmental impact of the created product.
