The work is devoted to the development of an innovative method for the detection of nitrogen-containing inorganic and organic compounds based on membranes of various types modified by chemical immobilisation with specific reagents to create a mobile test device and to carry out operational monitoring of hazardous substances in fresh water bodies. During the first stage of the work, a number of analytical agents (bichromate ions, antipyrine, Gries reagent and potassium iodide) were substantiated, selected and experimentally investigated for modifying membranes specific for nitrate ions. The prospects of using Gries' reagent have been proved, with which both polymeric and ceramic membranes have been modified.
