popup.description1
Determination of the regularities of the microstructure, phase composition and property formation of hardfacing alloys based on high manganese steels and development of new, scientifically based systems for alloying them with refractory compounds with high microhardness in order to simultaneously achieve high wear and impact resistance of the steel surfaces
popup.description2
During this reporting stage, new materials for wear-resistant coatings based on high-manganese steel alloyed with refractory compounds were developed. The research included modeling the physical and chemical properties of materials using Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods, which allowed determining the influence of alloying elements on phase composition, stability, and mechanical properties of the coatings. Particular attention was given to boride and carbide phases capable of significantly enhancing hardness and wear resistance.
New powder electrode materials with compositions 360Г15М6Б6Т3С3Ф and 70М24Г13Р3 were designed, providing high hardness, fracture toughness, and suitability for operation under extreme conditions. Optimal surfacing parameters were identified to achieve coatings with austenitic-carbide and austenitic-boride structures. Experimental studies of the microstructure of the deposited layers were conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS).
The thermodynamic properties of the system and the influence of alloying components on phase formation were analyzed. Wear resistance was evaluated through several methodologies, including impact-abrasive wear, sliding in a quartz sand environment, and scratch hardness tests using a sclerometer. The results demonstrated the high efficiency of the developed materials, ensuring their application for protecting components under heavy loads.
The developed technologies have been implemented in industrial enterprises for restoring and strengthening working surfaces of machinery parts, armor plates, and other products. The calculated parameters of the coatings allow their adaptation to a wide range of industrial operating conditions. These developments represent a significant contribution to the advancement of high-strength coating materials designed for long-term operation in demanding environments.
