Study of the fundamental features and basic mechanisms of such processes as well as the study of the impact on their characteristics of various physical factors - multielectron correlations, polarization and exchange effects, the interaction of discrete states with a continuous spectrum will be carried out popup.description2 The BSR version of the R-matrix method developed in this research work is a very versatile and effective method for studying elementary processes of interaction of slow electrons with complex multi-electron atoms and ions. Compared to the standard R-matrix method, the proposed BSR version has three clear advantages: 1) the use of term-dependent non-orthogonal orbitals is the most efficient way to take into account resonance effects without involving any correlation functions and without increasing the system of integro-differential close coupling equations; 2) quantum mechanical operators, after their discretization in the B-spline basis, are represented by highly sparse band matrices of finite rank, and this significantly simplifies the solution of the corresponding systems of algebraic and integro-differential equations; 3) the local properties and completeness of the finite system of basis splines provide guaranteed convergence of the R-matrix expansion, which allows to avoid any Buttle corrections for the diagonal elements of the R-matrix. Using the BSR version of the R-matrix method, the systematic calculations of the energy and angular dependences of the integral and differential cross sections of elastic e+A-scattering, excitation, and ionization of calcium and strontium atoms by slow electrons were performed. The complex resonance structure of the angle-integrated total cross sections of elastic scattering and electron impact excitation of Ca and Sr atoms has been studied in detail. The positions and widths of the identified resonances have been determined and their spectroscopic classification has been performed. The combined MCHF-BSR method was used to calculate the wave functions and energy spectrum of 36 lower states of the phosphorus atom and 35 lower states of the sulfur atom in scope of LS-coupling scheme. By diagonalizing the Breit-Pauli Hamiltonian in the basis of multi-configuration LS wave functions calculated by the MCHF method, the energy spect  Product Description popup.authors Aleksii Vitalii V.
