popup.description1
The purpose of the work is to substantiate the hydraulic safety system of Ukrainian NPPs by parameterizing thermal water exchange systems on computer numerical models of underground geofiltration and its hydrogeomechanical activation in the mode of heat and cold recycling.
popup.description2
To address the tasks set in the first stage of the research, actual data on the quantitative indicators of groundwater resource availability for Ukrainian nuclear power plants were collected, systematized, and analyzed, taking into account the climatic, geological-hydrogeological, and geotechnical conditions of the industrial sites where they are located. The hydrographic and thermographic analysis demonstrated that the operation of cooling ponds, hydraulically connected to rivers or reservoirs with artificial drainage, can compromise the reactor cooling system's functionality. By examining the dynamics of underground and surface hydrothermal resource formation in Ukraine, the hydrogeothermal conditions of the nuclear power plants were determined. Based on these characteristics, along with geological exploration data and additional engineering-geological studies conducted during the design and operation phases of the plants, a detailed selection was made of the most indicative hydrotechnological facility, where artificially created conditions are deemed critical.
A numerical geofiltration model for the territory was developed and parameterized using the VisualMODFLOW software, validated through regime observation data and experimental filtration works. The inverse and predictive solutions provided substantiated parameters for hydrothermal regulation of the NPP utilizing groundwater resources under different technological scenarios. Additionally, calculations determined the potential productivity and absorption capacity of wells, crucial for hydrothermal recycling and its potential reversal within the hydro-ecological safety system of Ukrainian NPPs, considering projected climatic conditions and hydrothermal dynamics.
