2024 the Department of History and Sociology of Science and Technology carried out the 5-year research theme "Fundamental research in leading scientific institutes and institutions of Ukraine and the world" (2023–2027). The current topic is an organic continuation of the planning topics of the department "Formation of an annotated chronology of key events and facts of fundamental sciences" (2017-2019) and "Formation of a database of leading scientists in the field of fundamental sciences and creation of a manuscript of their biographical dictionary" (2020-2022), and is another way of highlighting the history of fundamental sciences through the prism of the activities of leading Ukrainian and world scientific institutions.During 2024, employees conducted a historical analysis of the genesis and evolution of fundamental research directions in the leading scientific institutes and institutions of Ukraine and the scientific results obtained by them, taking into account their influence on further scientific, technological and social development, as well as the formation of a block of information on the historical biographies of scientists who worked or work in them.
