Research Aim: To analyze ways to improve the fuel efficiency and environmental performance of transport engines of various types by optimizing fuel supply and regulation systems when operating on traditional and alternative fuels. Research Methods: Theoretical calculations and experimental studies. Research Subject: Energy, environmental, and fuel efficiency indicators of engines and transport vehicles when improving engine systems and applying rational fuel utilization methods. In 2024, faculty members and staff of the Department of Engines and Thermal Engineering conducted a research project within their working hours on the topic "Improving the Environmental Performance and Fuel Efficiency of Transport Engines by Optimizing Systems and Using Alternative Fuels," Stage 3: "Experimental and Computational Studies of the Environmental Performance and Fuel Efficiency of Transport Engines with Various Fuel Supply and Regulation Systems when Operating on Traditional and Alternative Fuels." The first chapter presents the results of computational studies on the impact of using nitrous oxide to enhance the energy performance of a spark-ignition engine under full-load conditions. The second chapter focuses on refining a mathematical model to determine fuel consumption and pollutant emissions of a vehicle during driving cycles, considering the processes of engine and catalytic converter warm-up. The third chapter summarizes knowledge on the principles and methods of developing microprocessor-based control systems for diesel power plants. The fourth chapter analyzes the inefficient utilization of heat in internal combustion engines (ICE), which is dissipated into the environment. It confirms that increasing the overall efficiency of heat utilization—introduced into the engin Product Description popup.authors Syrota Oleksandr V. popup.nrat_date 2025-03-17 Close
