Object of research - a set of factors reducing the share of illegal commodity and financial flows in the total volume of international economic operations. Purpose - to develop practical recommendations for improving the efficiency of the system of interaction between customs authorities and financial intelligence units based on the joint recommendations of the World Customs Organization and the Egmont Group. Research methods: comparative analysis to review the legal framework; interviews, surveys, and case studies to gather opinions from experts, practitioners, and stakeholders in the field of customs and financial intelligence. The conceptual and institutional framework for integrating the practices of applying a risk-based approach from the standpoint of interaction between customs authorities and financial intelligence units in the context of Ukraine's implementation of international standards for combating illegal financial transactions is defined, which contributes to a paradigm shift in risk management towards the development and implementation of proactive strategies for systemic and multidimensional counteraction to international crime in the areas of finance and movement of goods, especially in terms of parallel financial investigations The risk criteria that can be used in the joint analytical work of customs authorities and financial intelligence units to identify suspicious entities and transactions in terms of the subject matter are systematized. The ways to improve the organizational and legal mechanism of interaction between customs authorities and financial intelligence units in Ukraine are substantiated.
