The purpose of the work is to study the functional possibilities of using stylistic repetitions in the novel by O. Wilde «Portrait of Dorian Gray»; study of the peculiarities of the translation of technical and legal terminology and phraseological units with a color-name component and the associated problem of translation equivalence at the lexical-semantic and phraseological levels; analysis of modern challenges and prospects of introduction into the initial process of innovative didactics in relation to teaching foreign languages. The applied study methods and techniques are motivated by the object and purpose of collective departmental research, in particular, the following are used: descriptive method, observation elements, idiostylistic analysis, elements of the comparative method, contextual analysis and linguistic translation analysis of the text; methods of pelagic experiment and modeling. Scientific studies on current problems in the field of German studies and translation studies, linguistic didactics contribute to the development and deepening of interlinguistic and intercultural relations between European states, and therefore to the more active integration of Ukrainian higher education into the educational space of the EU.
