The object of the research is a professional and psychological selection of candidates for military service. The subject of the study is the features of professional and psychological selection of candidates for military service in a special period. The purpose of the research work is to scientifically and methodologically substantiate changes in the existing selecting system of candidates for military service in the conditions of a special period. The research methods are analysis and synthesis, generalization and systematization, conceptualization, ascertainment experiment, psychodiagnostic method, correlation, factor analysis, descriptive methods of mathematical statistics. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that according to the results of the research work: an understanding of conceptual and methodological approaches to the organization and conduct of professional and psychological selection was deepened, a list of the main criterias for the professional and psychological selection of candidates for military service in a special period was determined; a set of psychodiagnostic tools for their diagnosis was substantiated; proposals were developed for changes to regulatory legal acts on the organization and conduct of professional and psychological selection in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
