Focusing on two key questions, the study seeks to understand changes in structural interactions between aNSC, astrocytes, and microglia in AD using a common mouse model. Additionally, the project examines the impact of vascular amyloidosis on aNSC perivascular processes, exploring potential dysregulation of proliferation in the context of AD. By employing advanced microscopy techniques, this research aims to uncover crucial insights into the pathogenesis of AD, offering a foundation for understanding aNSC regulation within the neurogenic niche. popup.description2 This project aims to explore the intricate morphological interactions between adult neural stem cells (aNSC) and their neurogenic niche, specifically investigating the alterations in Alzheimer's disease. During the first stage of the project, the ultrastructural features of Nestin-GFP-positive perivascular processes of stem cells and their contact with capillaries and the basal lamina were investigated using a JEM-100CX transmission electron microscope (JEOL, Japan). The obtained data will serve as a basis for a comparative analysis of the perivascular processes of stem cells in healthy control animals with those in transgenic Nestin-GFPxAPP PS1 mice with an Alzheimer’s disease model during the second stage of the project.
