popup.description1
Development of an experimental sample of a remedy for treatment of skin lesions of various nature (wounds, intertrigo, frostbite, burns, infections, irritations) with a wide range of biological effects (anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal and reparative) based on a biologically active composition (BAC) that contains selected nanoparticles (NP) of REE orthovanadate, silver nanoparticles and other active ingredients; development of methods for BAC identification.
popup.description2
The relevance of this research work is driven by the needs of military medicine, emergency medicine, and clinical practice in the treatment of complicated chronic and diabetic wounds, which are characterized by prolonged inflammation, oxidative stress, high risk of infection, and slow tissue regeneration. Existing wound care products are often limited in their action, as they typically target only specific pathogenic mechanisms of the healing process. Therefore, the creation of innovative wound-healing formulations with combined anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and reparative activities represents an important direction in modern biomedicine. In this study, a methodology was developed for the first time to create a wound-healing agent in the form of a gel based on Carbopol 940, containing as an active component nanocrystals (NCs) of rare-earth orthovanadates, gadolinium (GdVO4:Eu³⁺) or lanthanum (LaVO4:Eu³⁺) - aimed at modulating the inflammatory phase of healing and combining anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and reparative effects. The gel may also contain silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) as an active component. A combined treatment format was also proposed: the gel in combination with a “liquid bandage,” providing flexible application depending on the nature of the wound. The safety of the developed bioactive compositions (BACs) has been confirmed (toxicity class V - practically non-toxic compounds). The BACs do not exhibit allergenic or sensitizing effects upon topical application. In vitro studies demonstrated a positive effect of the BACs on cell migration and viability, indicating their potential to promote tissue regeneration. For the first time, it was shown that a BAC containing LaVO4:Eu3+ NCs and Ag NPs exhibits enhanced wound-healing properties specifically in the early (inflammatory) stage of healing. Application of the BAC gel significantly accelerated reparative processes compared to both control and the reference drug “Dalmacin.”
