Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics NAS of Ukraine popup.description1 Mastery, research, and development of mine detection methods using various sensors and physical principles with further application based on unmanned aerial vehicles popup.description2 This work presents the results of improving the experimental testbed and its components for the investigation and development of methods for detecting objects located on or beneath the soil surface using multisensor unmanned platforms. Special attention is paid to the design and modernization of prototypes of a mobile ground control station and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which integrate advanced hardware and software solutions to ensure high-precision positioning (GNSS RTK), autonomous mission control, and data collection in laboratory and field conditions. Digital models of mines, closely approximating real samples in geometry and materials, were created using 3D modeling, photogrammetry, and laser 3D scanning. A series of experiments employing radar sensors was conducted, and the results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approaches for mine detection, particularly demonstrated by radar images of a PMN-2 antipersonnel mine model produced by 3D printing and buried in dry sand at various depths. The obtained results demonstrate the prospects for further development of multisensor remote sensing methods for humanitarian demining tasks. The proposed technical solutions and the developed database of mine radar images can be used for the development and training of artificial intelligence algorithms, automation of the detection process, and integration into modern robotic platforms.
