popup.description1
Development of theoretical bases of synthesis of nanostructured oxides and metal-complex compounds of transition metals of different genesis and study of their structure, morphology and catalytic properties in redox processes
popup.description2
The aim of the study was to establish the regularities that determine the activity of materials in the oxidation processes of carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide, as well as to identify the influence of the support structure, the composition of the active phase and the impregnation conditions on the efficiency of the catalysts. For this purpose, a set of modern methods was used: X-ray phase analysis, IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, pH-metry, adsorption and kinetic studies. The structural, physicochemical and catalytic properties of manganese oxides and palladium-copper-containing catalysts immobilized on natural and synthetic supports were determined. The polymorphism of manganese oxides and the high sorption capacity of cryptomelane for SO₂ due to the tunnel structure were established, and the efficiency of carbon fibrous supports for copper-palladium catalysts was determined, which ensures the formation of the amorphous nanophase Pd⁰ and the nanocrystalline phase of paratakamite Cu₂(OH)₃Cl. A synergistic interaction of palladium(II) and copper(II) has been established, since the metals do not show activity in the oxidation of CO separately, but their combination provides a high degree of conversion. The optimal concentrations of metals, the order of impregnation and the effect of desorption on activity have been determined, as well as the mechanisms of catalyst deactivation in the presence of SO₂ and ways to increase their stability have been established. The results obtained can be used to create highly efficient multifunctional catalysts for the purification of industrial gases and air protection systems for working areas and personal respiratory protection equipment.
