Title
High performance FeAlCuNiTi-Based Metal Matrix Composites for High Temperature Applications
popup.stage_title

popup.description1
This project is aimed at developing an effective method for producing a particle-reinforced Fe32.3Al29.3Cu11.7Ni10.8Ti15.9 complex concentrated alloy (CCA) with a lower density compared to well investigated alloys of the Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni-Ti-Cu family.
popup.description2
This work investigates the synthesis and microstructural evolution of B₄C-TiB₂– Fe32.3 Al29.3Cu11.7Ni10.8Ti15.9 composite materials produced by mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering. The study reveals the mechanisms of phase formation and interfacial reactions between the high-entropy alloy matrix and ceramic reinforcement, leading to the development of a three-dimensional TiB₂/B₄C framework and hard interfacial phases such as TiC. Increasing the ceramic content (5–15 vol.%) results in a hardness increase up to 860 HV10 and enhanced high-temperature strength due to improved stress transfer, dislocation blocking, and suppression of diffusion-controlled creep. The composites exhibit a dense microstructure (98–99%) and stable mechanical performance within 20–1000 °C, making them promising candidates for extreme-temperature applications in aerospace propulsion, high-temperature energy systems, and protective structural components.
