Research Results: It was established that during the winter-spring lambing season, when ewes with offspring were kept in groups of 15 and 30 heads per section, no significant differences were observed in the survival of lambs from birth to weaning. However, the lambs of the experimental group, where 15 ewes with offspring were kept, showed significantly higher average daily gains and live weight at weaning. In the group of ewe lambs, this advantage persisted up to 6 months of age. No differences in body measurements were found at 4, 6, and 9 months of age between ewe lambs in the control and experimental groups. According to most vital indicators assessed based on the recommendations of the AWIN Welfare Assessment Protocol for Sheep (2015), no significant differences were observed between the ewes of the control and experimental groups. Ewes in the experimental group maintained a better body condition during the suckling period and had statistically significantly higher live weights (P < 0.05) after weaning compared to the control group. Keeping ewes in smaller groups during the suckling period resulted in better fleece cleanliness, leading to a 1.5% higher yield of clean wool (P < 0.001) and a 0.1 kg greater clean wool clip (P < 0.05) in the experimental group compared to the control. During stall fattening, ram lambs had 30% higher average daily gains (199 g vs. 153 g) compared to grazing on natural pastures. Ram lambs reached a live weight of 40 kg 21 days earlier under stall fattening than under pasture grazing. No relationship was found between slaughter and meat traits of ram lambs slaughtered after reaching a live weight of 40 kg and the fattening method. Product Description popup.authors Taras I.
