Title
Ecological and geographical aspects of assessment of the introduction of gymnosperm species in the State Dendrological Park "Trostyanets" of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
popup.stage_title

popup.description1
According to the concept of climatic analogy to determine the relationship between climatic parameters of the natural range of the species and the peculiarities of its introduction in the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine on the example of coniferous introducers of the ancient dendrological park "Trostyanets".
popup.description2
The study will examine species of the division Pinophyta that, at different stages in the history of the park, underwent introduction trials and exhibited varying responses to new growth conditions. Species whose introduction was considered successful include those that have grown in the dendropark plantations for 40 years or more. The remaining species are classified as tested but not introduced. The presence of species was determined based on inventories of park plantings conducted in 1886–1888, 1927, 1948–1949, 1957–1960, 1969–1971, 1980–1982, 2005–2007, and 2015–2017. Climatic conditions of the introduction site and the natural ranges of the studied species were compared using quantitative characteristics of climate types according to the Köppen–Geiger classification. For the climatic characterization of the natural range of each studied species, climographs of selected geographical locations were chosen with consideration of the altitudinal range of plant growth. The number of climographs used to characterize a species’ range depended on the size of the range but was not fewer than 12. Based on the conducted research, a comparison of climatic parameters of the natural ranges of the studied species and the introduction site will be carried out, and conclusions will be drawn regarding the specific features of their introduction. The implementation of this research topic is planned for a five-year period, from 2021 to 2025.
