The object of the study is the process of forming and developing the socio-economic potential of rural areas and communities of the Volyn region, taking into account regional needs and priorities and using production standards of agricultural activity and social standards of livelihood of rural residents. The purpose of the study is to develop theoretical, methodological and practical principles for the formation and development of the socio-economic potential of rural areas and communities at the regional level in the context of building a peaceful, safe and socially cohesive society. The results of the study substantiate the scientific and theoretical foundations of the socio-economic potential of rural areas and communities: the essence of socio-economic potential as a category, its economic nature, social mission, functions, principles and institutional support for development are revealed. The current state has been analyzed, trends in the provision and use of socio-demographic and organizational and economic potential of rural areas of the Volyn region have been assessed; the financial capacity and investment activity of rural territorial communities have been investigated. Regional features and local factors in the formation of the socio-economic potential of rural areas and communities have been identified. The infrastructure support for the formation and development of the socio-economic potential of the studied rural areas and communities has been assessed. Ways have been proposed to improve the organizational and economic mechanism for the formation and development of the socio-economic potential of rural areas and communities in the face of challenges associated with military aggression. The need to improve strategic planning and investment support for the development of the socio-economic potential of rural areas as a condition for the formation of viable rural territorial communities has been substantiated.
