At the same time, on a global scale, reducing the consumption of petroleum-based fuels by power units of vehicles, engineering, and construction machinery remains a pressing challenge. One of the ways to address this problem is the implementation of alternative fuels, especially those derived from renewable sources, and the introduction of hybrid power units. One of the measures aimed at improving the technical and economic performance of a power unit engine is the introduction of alternative fuels of plant origin. In addition to their positive environmental impact, such measures make it possible, if necessary, to supply fuel to the Defense Forces and critical sectors of the economy without using petroleum as a raw material, thereby contributing to the strengthening of Ukraine’s energy independence and defense capability. A number of studies and operational experience indicate that the use of mechanical drives for the chain and the throwing mechanism of chain trenching machines is impractical. Based on the analysis of scientific and technical data, it can be concluded that a significantly more advanced approach at present is the implementation of a hydrostatic (volumetric hydraulic) drive. As evidenced by current global trends in the development of engineering and construction machinery, this approach provides a high level of overload protection, stepless control of the working body speed, and automation of the technological process during excavation.
