Myxobacteria are considered promising producers of bioactive secondary metabolites and bacteriolytic enzymes with antimicrobial activity, which is particularly relevant in the context of the increase in antibiotic resistance of pathogenic microorganisms. Molecular-ecological analysis of the microbiome of macrophytes from the coastal area of the Black Sea revealed a high taxonomic diversity of epiphytic microbial communities and confirmed the presence of myxobacteria within their composition. Based on the obtained molecular-ecological data, a targeted approach to the isolation of myxobacteria from Black Sea biotopes was applied for the first time, which significantly increased isolation efficiency and enabled the establishment of a collection of myxobacterial cultures predominantly associated with macrophytes. Investigation of the biological properties of the isolated strains confirmed their affiliation with myxobacteria and revealed features of functional specialization characteristic of a predatory lifestyle. The studied strains demonstrated bacteriolytic and antagonistic activities, mainly against Gram-positive bacteria and, to a lesser extent, against Gram-negative bacteria. Based on the overall results, promising strains were selected for further in-depth studies of their biosynthetic potential. The obtained findings provide a scientifically grounded basis for the development of new antimicrobial agents based on antimicrobial metabolites and enzymes of marine-derived myxobacteria and confirm the Black Sea as a promising source of microorganisms for biotechnological applications.
