The aim of the project is to create a scientific and technological complex for assessing the state of biodiversity of freshwater bodies of the Siversky Donets basin using DNA barcoding and related methods. The work is based on the hypothesis that molecular approaches will allow to detect hidden (cryptic) diversity, early stages of invasions and changes in the structure of hydrobiocenoses that remain unnoticed during traditional monitoring, and will also ensure the comparability of Ukrainian data with international databases.
