popup.description1
The goal of this research is to create and thoroughly investigate novel polymers capable to react to external stimuli, along with the development of hybrid nanocomposites based on these polymers. Our focus lies in establishing the fundamental principles for the predictable control of photo, electrical, optical, and luminescent properties of both polymers and nanocomposites. Our approach encompasses both theoretical and experimental studies on polymers containing chromophore groups/fragments and metal-polymer complexes. This investigation aims to fulfil the requirements of photonics by producing efficient materials with high nonlinear optical coefficients and information store properties for use in non-destructive testing methods.
popup.description2
One of the priority areas of modern polymer chemistry is the development of macromolecular systems with photochemical, optical and nonlinear-optical properties specified at the modeling stage. Incorporation of photoactive components into the polymer structure opens up wide possibilities for modeling the properties of the resulting materials. Photoconversion in chromophoric groups leads to a change in a whole spectrum of physicochemical characteristics, including the refractive index, polarization and dispersion of light, dielectric properties, charge transfer ability, generation of reactive oxygen species, etc.The aim of the work is to study new polymers and polymer nanosystems sensitive to radiation, and to develop scientific foundations for the predictive control of their photoluminescent, electro-optical and biological properties. Achieving this goal involved solving a number of tasks, including the synthesis and study of the properties of new model compounds with chromophoric fragments, corresponding monomers and polymer matrices. The idea of the project is to model the structure of new photoactive polymers and nanocomposites, to establish a connection between the chemical structure of these polymers and their functional properties. The conducted studies of the photochemical and nonlinear optical properties of the obtained polymers will provide the prerequisites for the creation of new materials based on them. Among the promising areas of application of such materials are minimally invasive methods of photodynamic antibacterial and anticancer therapy. The hypothesis of the study is based on two key assumptions (1) The photochemical and nonlinear optical properties of polymer systems deterministically depend on their macromolecular structure and can change in a controlled manner under the influence of external and internal factors (2) there is a potential for the creation of polymers and nanocomposites with a wide range of tunable functions andhigh efficiency.
