Kadenko, д.ф.-м.н. Registration Date 14-04-2026 Organization Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv popup.description1 The goal is to search for a bound dineutron in order to enhance the practical yield of 99mTc for medical applications, namely: - to experimentally search for a bound dineutron in the 100Mo(p,n2)99mTc nuclear reaction - to determine the cross-section vs energy dependence for this reaction - to design and test the multilayer hybrid target assembly for enhanced 99mTc production - to determine practical yield of 99mTc isotope in (p,xn) nuclear reactions on molybdenum isotopes with medical cyclotrons popup.description2 Based on the known studies, the dineutron was indirectly identified in our previous experiments in the (n,n2) nuclear reaction. It has never been observed in the proton-induced nuclear reaction (p,n2), which is the goal of the proposed experiment we are planning to conduct for the first time, using enriched 100Mo as target nuclei. The proposed research concerns then the bound dineutron observation via 99mTc decay and the corresponding nuclear reaction might serve as an additional source for production of medically relevant 99mTc. With the same setup, we intend to develop a novel methodology for a hybrid production of 99mTc by simultaneous proton and proton-induced neutron irradiations of molybdenum samples, properly located within the target assembly in medical cyclotrons. Under this approach, the main issue is to realize a multi-layer sample with the proper thicknesses and a suitable target assembly to ensure an effective irradiation allowing for a maximum yield of tracer.
