popup.description1
The purpose of the work is to develop a device for ultrasonic protection of heat exchangers against corrosion and scale and to conduct its industrial tests.
popup.description2
The problem of comprehensive protection of heat exchange equipment from scale and corrosion using ultrasonic technologies is considered. The main attention is paid to overcoming the contradiction, in which the complete removal of hardness salts makes the environment corrosively aggressive, and their accumulation on the surface leads to significant energy losses. The use of ultrasound as an effective physical method of modifying the calcium carbonate crystallization process is substantiated. It was established that under the action of ultrasonic cavitation and vibration, a fine-crystalline layer of sediment is formed, the size of the crystals in which is 6–8 times smaller than in natural conditions. The time for the formation of the protective layer is reduced by 2 times, and its density increases significantly, which allows achieving the standard corrosion rate (≤ 0.05 mm/year) with a thickness of only 60–90 μm. A higher heat transfer rate (1.5 times) is ensured through the modified scale compared to conventional deposits. The mechanism of destruction of excess scale (thickness over 0.5 mm) due to the occurrence of mechanical stresses and fatigue fracture caused by the difference in acoustic resistance of the metal wall and deposits is considered. The effectiveness of ultrasound in increasing the resistance of stainless steels to pitting corrosion through the mechanism of repassivation of metastable pitting is also shown. The method is characterized as environmentally safe, reagent-free and promising for use in hot water supply systems and industrial power engineering.
