popup.description1
The goal of the work - based on a comprehensive study of main viability indicators of tree plants in urban systems to determine degree of its vulnerability during global warming and drought and to develop measures to reduce the negative impact of climate change on the dendroflora of industrial cities in the steppe zone of Ukraine
popup.description2
The analyzed weather indicators in the conditions of Kryvyi Rih during 2024 indicate a deepening of climate changes towards warming. The average air temperature during March-October was 18.1℃, which is 1.6℃ more than the previous year and 4.0℃ more than the average long-term data, and the amount of precipitation was 82.2 mm, which is 3.3 times less than the previous year and 3.7 times less than the average long-term data. In the summer period, the amount of precipitation was 86–96.3% less, and the average monthly air temperature was 14.2–18.9% higher compared to the average long-term indicators. A decrease in the share of trees and shrubs with the highest level of generative development to 60% was detected, while in 2003 this indicator was 96%. The deterioration of the vital state of the most vulnerable to climatic conditions species of woody plants was noted, which was manifested in a decrease in the share of flowering of generatively mature species by 6%, and by 11% of those that flowered but did not bear fruit (compared to 2003). Palynological analysis showed that most species from the genera Crataegus L., Quercus L., Pinus L. have morphologically formed pollen with a share of fertile pollen of up to 99%, while all studied species of the genus Betula L. – up to 10%. In the conditions of the Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden, hawthorns have a high percentage of fruit setting (32.5–57.3%). The relative vital state of street plantings was calculated, which is: Betula pendula Roth. – 98 conditional points, Tilia cordata Mill. – 96, Picea pungens Engelm. – 96, which corresponds to the category "healthy". The lowest relative vitality was determined in Populus nigra var. pyramidalis (Rozier) Spach – 72, which corresponds to the “good” category. It was determined that the aging of park-forming tree species in urban plantings begins after 40 years of age and when they reach 50 years of age, the number of individuals with a high level of vitality (7–8 points) decreases.
