popup.description2
The objective of this expert research study is to conduct a preliminary assessment and analysis of the status of bird and bat fauna, as well as the potential impact of a proposed wind power plant complex located in the Volodymyr District of the Volyn Region. The baseline assessment of the potential impact resulting from the construction and subsequent operation of the wind power plant is based on an analysis of existing literature, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports and conclusions, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) reports, previous ornithological studies, and scientific reports concerning areas adjacent to the site of the planned activity. The research methodology employs standard, widely accepted techniques used in modern faunistic studies.
This report presents the findings of research conducted under an agreement between "WIND POWER GSI VOLYN 2" LLC and the Institute of Ecology of the Carpathians (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). The work involved assessing and analyzing the status of bird and mammal fauna and the potential impact of the proposed wind power plant complex in the Volodymyr District, Volyn Region. Particular attention is focused on the conservation of the gene pool of rare vertebrate species protected under international and national legislation.
As part of the services stipulated in the agreement, field surveys were conducted—following standard methodological protocols—to study the bird, mammal, amphibian, and reptile fauna within the area designated for the construction of the wind power plant. Based on the data obtained, an assessment was conducted regarding the potential for negative impacts from the planned activities on the fauna—specifically birds and bats, including rare and protected species. Recommendations for nature conservation have been provided to address the elimination or mitigation of these threats.
