A gocel of the work is to precise the design circuit parameters and mathematical models for freight wagon vibrations, to update the railway wheel profile developed at ITM NASU and NSAU by using the results of dynamic and on-track tests, and to determine the stressed-strained state for a wheel-rail contact. Methods for statistic dynamics, mathematical modelling, mathematical statistics, numerical integration, theory of elasticity are used. Results obtained - the mathematical model for three-dimensional vibrations of a freight wagon with the CNII-X3 trucks and rail-wheel contact model using the results of solution of the three-dimensional geometric problem on their contact are updated; the predicted and measured factors of wagons dynamic performance are evaluated comparatively using the wheels with th e actual and updated profiles of a rim; impact of parameters of the wedge damper of wagon conventional truck on frictional forces in spring assembly is evaluated; stress and strain fields in the wheel and rail wedge are determined. Novelty of the results lies in decreasing the wear in rails flanges and heads without deteriorating the dynamic perfomance of a wagon due to wheel updated profiles, inerease in an angle of surfa- ces of sprung beam and frictional wedges results in a significant incre- ase of frictional forces in spring assembly. Dangerous regions of the high stresses in flange of the railway wheel and rail head under their contact are determined. Sufficient conditions of underframe derailment are formulated. Obtained results will be used in practice for updating the running gear of freight wagons. Area of indroduction of the re- sults is railway transport.
