Дослідження дисертації висвітлює значення та функціонування прийменника на матеріалі прийменників at, by, with, об'єднаних спільною ознакою невизначеної близькості між двома об'єктами. У праці застосовується методика „значення-смисл", яка передбачає певний тип відношень - інваріантне значення слова - в парадигматичній лексичній системі мови і його змінні смисли в плані мовлення. Інваріантне значення прийменника at - це узагальнений тип відношень статичної точковості, by - це узагальнений тип відношень динамічної точковості, with - це узагальнений тип відношень сумісної точковості.
