Один із домінантних напрямів розвитку тематичної групи «Футбол» є запозичення. У статті проаналізовано особливості процесу іншомовних запозичень – їх входження та адаптацію. Розглянуто різницю між «запозиченим словом» та «іншомовним словом». Проаналізовано входження загальноспортивних номінацій та власне футбольних номінацій з англійської, французької, іспанської, російської, англійської та німецької мов в українську мову. Описано шляхи перекладацьких лексичних трансформацій футбольних номінацій: транскодування, калькування, описове передавання значення. Підтверджено функційний потенціал запозичених лексем через такі параметри: розвиток гіпо/гіперонімічних зв’язків, розширення синтагматичних відношень, творення похідних слів. (According to the development of a football branch formed the system of names of objects and concepts of the game. One of the dominant directions of development of the thematic group «Football» is borrowing. The article analyzes the peculiarities of foreign debt – their entry and adaptation. The difference between «borrowed word» and «foreign words» is considered. Entering of general sporting nominations and the actual football nominations from English, French, Spanish, Russian, English and German in the Ukrainian language is analyzed. Ways of translation of lexical transformations of football nominations: transcoding, tracing, descriptive translation are described. Determined that functional potential of foreign tokens shows the location of this innovation in language, its activity, including derivation, and depends on the system and its communication support, that is the interaction with other borrowings, and with specific tokens, the nature of their interaction, activity limitation borrowing etc. Noticed, that foreign words of football thematic, coming to lexical-semantic system of the Ukrainian language, naturally come into paradigmatic relations with specific and other borrowed units, for example, swell the ranks of the already existing synonyms or forming the new one.
