Визначено як загальні фактори політизації історичної науки в умовах еміграції – протистояння з радянською історіографією, ідеологічні відмінності між самими емігрантським групами, так і конкретні форми впливу політики на історіографію. Останнє найбільш чітко проявлялося у створенні еміграційних наукових інституцій за підтримки влади країни поселення – Чехії, Німеччини, Польщі. (The paper explains the role of the political factor in the existence of Ukrainian foreign historiography, because its appearance was caused by a political factor, i.e. by the defeat of Ukrainian forces in the fight against the Bolsheviks regime in 1917‑21. The author defines general factors of politicization of historical science in exile i.e. the confrontation with the Soviet historiography, the ideological differences among various immigration groups, as well as the specific forms of political impact on historiography.
