(The author analyses the views of scholars of the Ukrainian diaspora onto the place and significance of the so-called ‘Pereiaslav Legend’ in the Ukrainian history. The author reviews the publicity works of Roman Bhzeskyi, Zynovii Knysh and Stepan Ivanytskyi. All of these works are aimed to debunk the Russian myth about the “cradle of fraternal peoples”, “unity and brotherhood” of the Russian and Ukrainian peoples, and aspiration of the Ukrainians to “reunification”.
