The methodological guide presents the interpretation of reading literacy in the format of the European educational space, characterizes reading strategies in the system of school literary education, defines the psychological and pedagogical foundations of the formation of reading literacy of adolescent students in the process of studying literature, defines the essential characteristics of the system of skills of a qualified reader in the context of РISA requirements, the specifics of the formation of reading literacy of 5th-6th grade students in Ukrainian literature lessons are revealed.
