Kholodny Institute of Botany, NAS of Ukraine popup.description1 Study of the phytohormone system of cultivated cereals and their wild relatives affected by adverse climatic factors, establishing the contribution of phytohormones of certain classes to the formation of resistance, identifying the mechanisms of their functional interaction, and developing new approaches to the screening of resistant genotypes of cultivated plants and environmentally safe ways of inducing resistance. The project provides for the deepening and expansion of the information concerning the features of photosynthetic apparatus functioning, the activity of signaling molecules and the accumulation of secondary metabolites due to the adverse external factors effects on the cultured cereals and their wild relatives. The effect of high and low temperatures and drought on the pattern of the accumulation and localization of abscisic acid, auxins, cytokinins and gibberellins in the organs of cultivated cereals and their wild relatives will be analyzed, peculiarities of the phytohormonal balance, photosynthetic pigments content, accumulation of secondary metabolites, activity of lipoxygenase and the cellular ultra structure of mesophyll leaves will be identified. The obtained results will form basis of the new biotechnology for cereal resistance early diagnosis and aimed at creating high-yield varieties tolerant to climate and environmental stresses. popup.nrat_date 2024-12-10 Close
