P., Registration Date 28-01-2004 Organization Institute for metal physics NAS Ukkraine popup.description2 Quarternary (Ti-Zr)-(Ni-Cu) and (Ti-Hf)-(Ni-Cu) alloys with chemical composition varied around effective intermetallic compound AB have been designed for production in the bulk metallic glass state by means of rapid solidification techniques with cooling rates above 105 К/s. Effect of the fifth and six alloying components on ability to amorphization has been studied carefully for some specific alloy compositions. The physical-chemical analysis of the developed alloys has been done that allows to propose some prospective alloy compositions for specific shape memory applications: Ti20Zr30Cu25Ni25; Ti16.6Zr33.4Cu25Ni25; Ti40Zr5Hf5Cu25Ni25; Ti16.6Zr16.7Hf16.7Cu25Ni25. Analysis of available experimental data and theoretical consideration have been done regarding optimization of chemical composition of AB-type intermetallic compounds for production in bulk amorphous state (thickness several millimeters) by means of traditional solidification techniques with cooling rates below 103 К/s. Main requirements to technological paths for production of bulk amorphous alloys with low cooling rates are formulated and optimal regimes of metallic melt temperature-time prehistory are proposed for specific casting techniques, the vacuum suction and stopper filling methods.
