The largest sectors of Ukrainian economy have been analysed in terms of their competitiveness. Besides, it is demonstrated that the leading exporter – ferrous metallurgy – remains competitive only due to state financing, whereas the clothing industry is in fact a monopoly because its suppliers are monopolies. A unique analysis of micro-markets has been conducted by economic activities, competition level, and geographic proximity. Principal guidelines for antimonopoly policy have been outlined, in particular in the sphere of natural monopolies. Delimitation between statistic and dynamic competition has been established. Methodological guidelines for determination of main types of commodity markets and the level of competition in commodity markets have been given.
