There is prepared the conception and scheme of the complex approach to the estimation of biodiversity, implementation of monitoring and protection of biological resources of wetlands and their rational use. The program and scheme of carrying out the regional ornithological monitoring in wetlands of the Azov-Black Sea coast of Ukraine have been developed. The unified methodic background (cartographic material on GIS base; structures of data bases and management system; codes of wetlands, monitoring areas, sites, species of animals) to gather and process material according to the uniform scheme has been developed. Basing on the monitoring of bird species diversity there has been identified their role as indicators of environment quality and especially of wetlands. The elaboration of scientificdirection of monitoring of bird species diversity in wetlands of South Ukraine and development of bases of protection and management of wetlands diversity have induced elaboration of a management scheme to manage ornithological complexes of model wetlands and use of this scheme as a pattern for other wetlands of the region. Transcontinental importance of wetlands of South Ukraine in relation to support of a geographical part of populations of breeding migratory waterfowls has been determined and substantiated. The pilot scientific and practical program “Integral Approach to Management and Protection of Molochnyy Liman Water Body as a Model Wetland” has been prepared to use the mentioned scheme for other water bodies of South Ukraine. A monograph “Integral Approach to Management of Biodiversity in Wetlands of South Ukraine” has been prepared for publishing. According to the results of the studies for the Government of Ukraine there is prepared analytic information on control of waterfowl numbers and prognosisof their migration, propositions to form state program on ornithological monitoring in South Ukraine. To subdivisions of Ministry of Environmental Protection and regional departments of environmental safety of South Ukraine there were given recommendations relating to protection and management of biological diversity in wetlands.
