The subject of research - clinical manifestations and specific laboratory diagnostics of herpesviral encephalitis, improving therapeutic measures. Research methods - ELISA analysis (ELISA), polymerase-chain reaction (PCR), magnetic resonance imaging of the brain (MRI), ultrasound. Aim - using highly advanced methods of laboratory diagnosis, to study clinical features of nervous system lesions of herpes virus in children, to develop criteria for their diagnosis, justify the tactics of antiviral therapy. The results of this work are based on clinical observation and examination of patients with herpesviral infection of the nervous system lesion, who were on inpatient treatment in children's Infectious Hospital Kharkov 2004-2008 biennium Established criteria for differential diagnosis of herpesviral encephalitis. The most important laboratory method that finally confirms the etiology of encephalitis, a virus DNA detection in liquor using PCR. One of the manifestations of herpesviral infection in young children is a convulsive syndrome. Determine the effectiveness of antiviral therapy, depending on the timing of her appointment. The greatest clinical effect is obtained from the appointment of acyclovir in the first 24-48 hours of receipt of a child in hospital.
