Methods of investigation - novel methods, in particular quantum-mechanical (QM), of the computer simulation of a high level of complexity and Bader's topological analysis of the electron density (QTAIM). As a result of the project implementation new physico-chemical phenomena and regularities in the fields related to molecular and structural biology, and also molecular and quantum biophysics, that concern molecular mechanisms of the point mutations occurrence, namely structural rebuildings of the Watson-Crick DNA base pairs caused by hydroxyl radicals and oxidation of DNA purine bases, have been revealed. This opens up new perspectives for the deeper penetration into the understanding at the atomistic level of the processes that determine the reparation accuracy of these injuries by the appropriate enzymes. The obtained mechanisms would allow predict the frequency of induced mutations caused by both endogenous and exogenous chemicals. It was also studied the properties of model phosphatidylcholine liposome systems obtained from the sunflower seeds; the synthetic approaches, synthesis and investigation of the stable nitroxyl radicals acting as spin probes for studying of liposomes were developed.
