The object of the research - folk meteorological knowledge and beliefs of the inhabitants of Ukrainian Middle Polissia which is located in the interfluve of Dnipro and Horyn rivers that is to the north of the line of Rivne - Novohrad-Volynskyi - Zhytomyr - Kyiv. The research objective - development of the scientific monograph on the basis of systematization, classification and mapping of the factual material of traditional meteorological knowledge and beliefs within the territory of Middle Polissia in the late 19th - in the early 20th centuries, as well as elucidation of their region-wide and local features. The research methods - collection of field material on the outlined theme with the help of interviews of respondents under the specified questionnaire which enables complex fixation of the information in every locality by means of audio and video fixation. In addition, primary processing of the collected material and classification of the collected data for the purpose of preparation to their mapping were performed. The researchers carried out mapping of folk meteorological knowledge and beliefs, analytical processing of the mapped materials and writing of the monographic research. On the basis of 35 structural and typological tables, scientists compiled 31 map-schemes which include structural components of the explored phenomenon and reflect its territorial differentiation. The academic novelty of the research consists in the attempt of investigation of geographical distribution of folk meteorological knowledge and beliefs in Middle Polissia with the help of mapping method. The new factographic data obtained during the field ethnographic researches were introduced to the scientific turnover. Analysis and generalization of this information will help to provide scientific classification of meteorological knowledge, to perform mapping of folk weather lores and to define a place of the outlined knowledge in the system of traditional culture of the explored region.
