The high catalytic effect (TON up to 1000) of copper cyanide carbene complexes (I) was proved in the reactions of cyanodehalogenation of haloarenes with sodium cyanide or trimethylsilylcyanide. It has been shown that the complexes of branched 2,4,6-trisubstituted aromatic derivatives of imidazol-2-ylidenes effectively catalyze the reaction of hydrohalogenation of haloarenes under the action of sodium methoxide in isopropanol (TON up to 110,000 on the instance of the reaction of p-dichlorobenzene). The energy of dimerization of a large number of carbenes were calculated by DFT method that identified the most stable systems. The obtained data are important for the development of the preparative synthesis of stable carbenes and their precursors, catalysis of the reduction reactions of multiple bonds and haloarenes, and the functionalization of organic compounds.
