One of the mechanisms of plant resistance to abiotic stress is to increase the proportion of unsaturated fatty acids in the membrane phospholipids. The genes of acyl-lipid desaturases of cyanobacteria were used in this work, because they are phylogenetically similar to those enzymes that are present in the plant organism and have a clearly defined mechanism of action and substrate for reaction in the plant organism. Adaptation and response to biotic stimuli is provided by stimulating the expression of theonine proteins, defensins, as well as so-called PR-proteins (pathogenesis-related proteins). In total, PR proteins are divided into 18 groups, among which are thaumatin-like proteins. Taumatin is a protein substance, widely known as a sweetener, used in pharmaceuticals and cooking. It is naturally produced by the plant Thaumatococcus daniellii, in response to contamination by fungal and viral stimuli. The purpose of the first stage of the project was to obtain transgenic plants of the families Solanaceae and Aesteraceae, which are known for their representatives. As a result of Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated genetic transformation, potato plants were obtained in which the insertion of the thaumatin II gene of the Thaumatococcus daniellii plant and transgenic tobacco plants Nicotiana tabacum were obtained, which simultaneously contained in their genome the cyanobacteria PCC 6803, desC gene, which encodes Δ9-acyl-lipid desaturase of cyanobacteria Synechococcus vulcanus) and taumatin II Product Description popup.authors Prohorova Elizaveta M popup.nrat_date 2021-03-17 Close
