Vernadskii Institute of General & Inorganic Chemistry NAS of Ukraine popup.description2  A method for the synthesis of composites based on natural zeolites was developed: hydrated dioxide of iron (III) or manganese was used as a modifier. The method involves pre-acid activation. Modification leads to the development of mesoporosity (secondary porosity). This is the result of filling the macropores with a modifier. Sorption of toxic ions Fe3 +, Mn2 +, Pb2 +, Ni2 +, Сd2 + and Сu2 + from water containing hardness ions, both on the source mineral and on composites was studied. It was found that the composite is characterized by increased sorption capacity to Pb2 + ions. The sorbent belongs to the category of "low cost". In the future, it is planned to use it not only to remove toxic ions from water, but also to immobilize enzymes to decompose organic compounds. The regularities of coagulation of model solutions containing proteins and toxic ions are studied, the optimal amount of coagulator is established. It is shown that the obtained sorbents can be used for purification of solutions from toxic inorganic ionic impurities.
