Purpose - analysis and summarize of the research results of cytogenetic effects in peripheral blood lymphocytes personnel performing work for a long time in the area of "Shelter" object (ShO). Research method - classical method of analysis of chromosomal aberrations in culture of human peripheral blood lymphocytes, statistical analysis 66 people from the contracting staff of the Chernobyl NPP were surveyed. In the blood lymphocytes of the staff, the average group frequency of chromosomal-type aberrations, except for unstable exchanges in the group of persons for the preparation of ditches, credibly exceeded that in the groups of persons comparison of non-irradiated control. In 18% of the group for the preparation of ditches, in 42% of the group for dismantling the ventilation pipe ShO and in 22% of the group for the construction of the new confinement enclosure, the frequency of unstable irradiation markers in lymphocytes exceeded the averagepopulation level and the average frequency in comparison groups. The calculated individual "biological" radiation doses of 9 staff members indicate a greater influence of the radiation factor than it follows from the physical dosimetry. In individuals with radiation doses up to 20 mSv, the frequency of radiation markers did not differ from the spontaneous level and frequency in the non-irradiated control and significantly exceeded those with increasing radiation dose (up to 38.5 mSv). Blood lymphocytes (with two chromosomal exchanges and multiaberrant) in staff may be the result of incorporation of radionuclides and external irradiation with high dose rate.
